I have one rule - Never, under any circumstances, allow ideology to dictate your perception of reality.
There is only one reality and we all share it.

When we allow ideology to distort our perception, we create weaknesses in our collective ability to communicate, debate and bounce ideas off of eachother.
Additionally, we impinge on our ability to establish solutions to our biggest problems.

We will not always agree with others both here and out in the real world. But it's discussing and understanding our differences which establishes broader context and understanding of our world.
